Il batterista Josh Devine rivela: “‘Ever Enough’ è stata la prima canzone che abbiamo registrato e finito in studio. Ha davvero fissato la barra e il tono per l’intero album di ciò che volevamo ottenere”.
La cantante Jules Galli condivide: “Amare qualcuno non è sempre romanticismo e bellezza. Può essere disordinato e dolorosamente imperfetto. ‘Ever Enough’ è una supplica per capire cosa manca, cosa deve essere aggiustato perché le cose si sentano di nuovo bene. È mai abbastanza per te? La mia parte preferita di questa canzone è il coro di chiamata e risposta e non vedo l’ora di eseguirla dal vivo, con il pubblico che ci canta “è mai abbastanza? Speriamo prima o poi”. Il chitarrista Trev Lukather riflette: “La canzone è stata scritta durante alcune tensioni all’interno della band. La tensione è inevitabile in qualsiasi band e specialmente quando senti la pressione di scrivere il tuo album di debutto. Credo che la tensione sia una buona cosa nei momenti di creatività. Questa canzone si è riversata fuori da noi ed è stata come una rinascita. Una delle mie preferite dell’album e senza dubbio il mio assolo di chitarra preferito”.
Alla fine dell’anno scorso, “Heaven Knows” è stata la prima rivelazione del repertorio della band. Il singolo ha trovato un forte supporto alla radio nel Regno Unito, Francia, Germania e altri territori in tutto il mondo, e continua a costruire in vista dell’uscita dell’album. Con “Automatic”, il chitarrista Lukather offre, “È la canzone che ha iniziato tutto per noi come LEVARA. Questa canzone ha stabilito lo standard per l’album, e ha davvero solidificato il suono che avremmo usato per tutto l’album di debutto. Ci ha elevato in un universo completamente nuovo e non potremmo essere più grati. C’è tutto quello che siamo come band – Anthemic, batteria massiccia, riempimenti epici, chitarre forti, assoli svettanti, voci enormi, note alte irreali, melodie forti e un gancio che non puoi toglierti dalla testa. Questo è il nostro singolo principale e questo è il vero inizio di quello che verrà. Non vedo l’ora”. Il cantante Galli aggiunge: “Automatic riguarda la magia in un momento. Il modo in cui questa canzone è nata nella green room di uno show dei Foreigner per il quale stavamo aprendo, per ottenere un contratto discografico, e finalmente rilasciarla al mondo come LEVARA… Così tanto è successo dalla creazione di questo inno. Voglio dire, eravamo una band diversa prima di scriverlo! È incredibile cosa può fare una canzone. Spero che significhi tanto per i nostri fan quanto per noi”. Il batterista Devine condivide, “‘Automatic’ è stato il punto cruciale che ha cambiato tutto per noi come band, aveva questo ‘fattore’ extra che abbiamo cercato quando abbiamo trovato la nostra voce come band, pur rimanendo fedeli agli elementi sonori che hanno creato LEVARA. Questo è l’inizio! Siamo entusiasti che tutti inizino questo viaggio con noi! E, per coloro che stanno già ascoltando, condividendo e facendo parte di questo viaggio, non potremmo essere più grati del vostro sostegno. Nel corso del tempo, abbiamo intenzione di raggiungere ogni angolo del mondo per eseguire queste canzoni”.
Di fronte all’uscita di “Chameleon”, Trev Lukather ha offerto: “Il video che abbiamo fatto per ‘Chameleon’ mostra come ci fondiamo tutti insieme. Abbiamo tutti le nostre qualità uniche e sono belle, siamo belli. Mostra veramente che siamo una sola razza, la razza umana. Abbiamo fatto venire i nostri amici più stretti da tutti i diversi background e abbiamo cantato un passaggio della canzone. Nessuna direzione se non quella di cantare insieme ed essere voi. La canzone non ha portato nient’altro che connessione, felicità e amore da parte di tutti coloro che si sono presi il tempo per farne parte. Lo si può vedere chiaramente nel video”.
Trev Lukather, Jules Galli e Josh Devine hanno forgiato la loro unione musicale a Los Angeles, uno degli epicentri mondiali della creatività musicale. Il cantante Galli si era trasferito in California dalla Francia, mentre il batterista Devine ha scelto L.A. come casa rispetto al suo nativo Regno Unito dopo il successo dietro il kit con i One Direction. Lì hanno trovato una visione comune con il chitarrista Trev Lukather. In qualche modo questi tre musicisti credono che l’universo li abbia fatti incontrare.
Prima di registrare il loro debutto, la band è andata in tour negli Stati Uniti diverse volte, oltre a mettere in scena una corsa che li ha portati in tutta Europa. All’inizio del 2020, hanno iniziato la loro collaborazione con il produttore Ethan Kaufmann agli Elephant In The Room Studios di East Hollywood. L’album ha catturato inequivocabilmente la magia che volevano vedere prendere vita.
“Credo che i LEVARA siano una band che può far scaturire un’influenza per i giovani ragazzi e le persone di tutte le età per prendere in mano uno strumento e sentire quella connessione”, conclude Trev. “Allo stesso tempo di cantare insieme a melodie anthemiche, buone ed emotive, si può incorporare il cuore e l’anima che ha iniziato la musica in primo luogo. Vogliamo ispirare la nostra generazione e la prossima a voler prendere in mano una chitarra, prendere un basso, prendere le bacchette della batteria, o andare a prendere quelle note alte vocalmente. Sento che c’è bisogno di brani epici ‘pop’ che abbiano quella musicalità dietro di loro come le band classiche che tutti amiamo e ammiriamo. Credo che abbiamo realizzato questo con il nostro album. Drummer Josh Devine reveals, “’Ever Enough’ was the first song we tracked and finished in the studio. It really set the bar and the tone for the whole album of what we wanted to achieve.” Singer Jules Galli shares, ”Loving someone isn’t always romance and beauty. It can be messy, and painfully imperfect. ‘Ever Enough’ is about a plead to understand what’s missing, what needs fixing for things to feel good again. Is it ever enough for you? My favorite part of this song is the call and response chorus and I can’t wait to perform it live, with the audience singing back to us “is it ever enough?!”. Hopefully sooner than later.” Guitarist Trev Lukather reflects, “The song was written during some tension within the band. Tension is inevitable in any band and especially when you feel the pressures of writing your debut album. I believe tension is a good thing at times of creativity. This song poured out of us and it was like a rebirth. One of my faves on the album and no doubt my favorite guitar solo.”

With “Automatic,” guitarist Lukather offers, “It is the song that started it all for us as LEVARA. This song set the standard for the album, and really solidified the sound that we would run with throughout the debut album. It elevated us into a whole new universe and we couldn’t be more grateful. It’s everything we are as a band – Anthemic, massive drums, epic fills, loud guitars, soaring solos, huge vocals, unreal high notes, strong melodies and a hook that you can’t get out of your head. This is our main single and this is the true beginning of what’s to come. Can’t wait.” Singer Galli adds, “Automatic is about the magic in a moment. The way this song was born in the green room of a Foreigner show we were opening for, to getting a record deal, and finally releasing it to The World as LEVARA…So much has happened since the creation of this anthem. I mean, we were a different band before we wrote it! It’s incredible what a song can do. I hope it means as much to our fans as it does to us.” Drummer Devine shares, “’Automatic’ was the definite pivotal point that changed everything for us as a band, it just had this extra ‘it factor’ that we had been searching for when finding our voice as a band, while still holding true to the sonic elements that created LEVARA. This is the beginning! We’re excited for everyone to start this journey with us! In front of the release of “Chameleon,” Trev Lukather offered, “The video we made for ‘Chameleon’ shows how we all blend together. We all have our unique qualities and they are beautiful, we are beautiful. Truly showing we are one race, the human race. We had our close friends from all different backgrounds come by and sing a pass through the song. No direction other than sing along and be you. The song brought nothing but connection, happiness and love out of everyone that took the time to be a part of it. You can clearly see that in the video.”
Trev Lukather, Jules Galli and Josh Devine forged their musical union in Los Angeles, one of The World’s epicenters of musical creativity. Singer Galli had relocated to California from France, while drummer Devine chose L.A. as home versus his native United Kingdom following success behind the kit with One Direction. There they found common vision with guitarist Trev Lukather. On some level these three players believe the universe brought them together.
Prior to recording their debut, the band toured the United States several times alongside staging a run that brought them across Europe. In Early 2020, they began their collaboration with Producer Ethan Kaufmann at Elephant In The Room Studios in East Hollywood. The album unequivocally captured the magic they sought to see take life.
“I believe LEVARA is a band that can spark an influence for young kids and people of all ages to pick up an instrument and feel that connection,” Trev concludes. “At the same time of singing along to anthemic, feel-good, and emotional tunes, you can incorporate the heart and soul that started music in the first place. We want to inspire our generation and the next to want to pick up a guitar, pick up a bass, pick up drum sticks, or go for those high notes vocally. I feel there is a need for epic ‘pop’ tunes to have that musicianship behind them like the classic bands we all love and admire. I believe we accomplished that with our album. If we can influence that in any way, we are winning.”
