L’anno che si sta per chiudere è stato alquanto intenso per il cantante, compositore e polistrumentista californiano Neal Morse.
Oltre alle due edizioni di Morsefest (festival nato nel 2014) – la prima delle quali si è svolta a gennaio a Londra, la seconda si terrà a White House nel Tennessee il mese prossimo – l’inesauribile Morse ha realizzato altri progetti (discografici e non) per la gioia della sempre più numerosa e fedele fanbase.
Su tutti, il sorprendente album “Deep Water”, debutto discografico del supergruppo americano Cosmic Cathedral, che annovera musicisti del calibro di Chester Thompson (batteria), Phil Keaggy (chitarra) e Byron House (basso).
In tarda primavera poi, le tredici date europee del doppio spettacolo con gli scandinavi The Flower Kings, in cui Morse ha eseguito quasi interamente l’album “No Hill For A Climber”, scritto insieme a un gruppo di giovani e talentuosi musicisti di Nashville e uscito appena qualche mese prima.
“Never Been Down This Road” è il titolo del nuovo capitolo introspettivo dell’universo morsiano. L’uscita dell’album, prevista per il 31 ottobre, è preceduta dal lancio promozionale del singolo intitolato “Leavin’ California”, visualizzabile in streaming sul canale Youtube dell’artista: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=GjLSE-XTp0Y.
A proposito dell’album, Morse dichiara: “Never Been Down This Road feels like a journey through my heart, my memories, and sometimes the hearts of characters I’ve imagined,” … “It’s a quieter kind of album – less about the epic, more about the honest moment. I hope people connect with it the way I have”.
